I rented a cottage this past weekend that was falsely advertised and completely structurally unsafe. I am wondering what the process is to have the owner’s property inspected to avoid any further safety issues, there is a “loft” in the attic of this cottage that was rented to us as a 3rd bedroom, the problem with this space is first of all the stair case is 2.5 feet wide, the stairs are opened back and the walls on the railing are not secure they are very unsafe and easy to sway back and forth. There is no drywall in the space to separate the outer cottage wall and the room as well there is dirt and bugs up in the living space due to such easy access and holes in the roof to outside.

This cottage was rented as a fully furnished 3 bedroom cottage with a full kitchen, this is not the case. This lady needs to stop renting this place as stated and make it safe before this happens to other people in the future, please let me know what is required to have this place inspected.

As well we were having a fire in the pit the owner has on the stones in front of the cottage and were in formed by the fire inspector that the property is not legally allowed to even have a fire pit as it has to be 13 feet from the structure which at no angel is possible. This is another reason this property needs to be addressed as this owner is advertising this property to have a fully functional fire pit as well and as a renter obtaining a ticket for such should not be the renters responsibility rather the property owners who very well does not abide by the laws enforced within that community.
